So let’s change that….let’s do something that is completely about YOU!

I need to lose weight first

I am not photogenic enough

It’s selfish to spend time and money on myself

I’m sure you can come up with a million excuses for why you SHOULDN’T do a boudoir session, so I am going to give you 5 reasons why you NEED to do one…now!

1) You deserve be pampered

You know that feeling you get after a really great haircut, or a relaxing day at the spa? You know the feeling….everything seems a little bit better, you have an extra bounce in your step and you just feel….lighter! We don’t allow ourselves to feel that way very often. So imagine this…you walk into the studio where there is music playing, candles burning and a glass of champagne waiting for you. You sit down in the chair and feel the stress melt away as you receive professional make-up and hair styling. Once the lashes are on and the hair is curled, you spend the next hour playing dress up in lingerie you never thought you would feel comfortable in. But before you know it, you are feeling sexy, confident and amazing! That is the power of an amazing boudoir session. 

2) It makes a great gift

Imagine the look on his face when he opens the album you created, filled with gorgeous images of you. You will have to pick his jaw up off the floor. Boudoir is not only a great gift to GIVE someone….it’s a perfect gift to give YOURSELF! Yes, it’s fun to see the reaction on his face, but more importantly it serves as a constant reminder of just how beautiful you are. I have clients that cry when they see their pictures for the first time –  “Is that really me?” – I have clients order wall art that’s just for them. They hang them in their bathroom or closest where they can see it daily and remember that feeling. So, boudoir may seem like the perfect gift for HIM, but really it’s the perfect gift for YOU!

 

3) Everyone wants to be a celebrity for a day

It’s not everyday that you get to have your hair and make-up done and dress up for the camera. Unless you are a celebrity, it’s likely that you haven’t done it at all. So why not take this opportunity to see how the other half live. Do something fun! Bring your girlfriend along and make it a fun day together….or even better you BOTH schedule a session and get to experience the fun together. Get the celebrity treatment for a day!

 

4) Step out of your comfort zone

We all have our “safe” place. The role that we have stepped into, or have been placed in, that we feel now defines us. For some of us it’s MOM. Now that we have children it seems selfish to do something for ourselves…or we don’t feel like we are allowed to be sexy anymore. For others it’s your CAREER. You have put your career ahead of everything else, and you don’t take the time to do something that just for you. Every once in a while it’s good to step outside your comfort zone. NO ONE ever walks into my studio feeling like they know exactly how to pose and what to do. Even those that have “modeled” before are a little unsure. Nothing about a boudoir session is “natural”, which is part of the appeal. It’s a safe place to let loose, and bring out the sexy side that usually gets buried beneath all the other “roles” you take on.

 

 

5) Someone thinks you are beautiful just the way you are

Maybe it’s your significant other…or it could be your best friend. Either way, we all have someone that thinks we are pretty amazing just the way we are. We don’t always see ourselves the way they do. We see the imperfections and flaws, but they see beauty. I have been photographing women a while now and I can tell you that YOU ARE YOUR OWN WORST CRITIC! I see it all the time. A gorgeous image of a beautiful woman…and all she sees is the tiny pooch in her stomach or the size of her arms. None of those things matter to those that love you the most. You are beautiful just the way you are….RIGHT NOW….right this moment. So capture it!

 

BONUS: Reason #6 – Getting Married?!?

I work with a lot of brides and it seems like every time I ask them what they are getting their fiancé for the groom’s gift I get a lot of the same answers…

“I don’t know – maybe a bottle of whiskey/watch/cuff links”

I can tell you right now that he doesn’t need another bottle of whiskey that ANYONE can buy him. Watches and cufflinks are nice, BUT A sexy boudoir album will REALLY make his day! It’s personal, it’s unique and it’s something that no on else can get him except YOU! Bridal boudoir session are so much fun, and I promise to keep it a secret….as long as you can too 🙂
