This week’s True Beauty “Session in the Spotlight” star is Ashlee. I met Ashlee when we worked in the same elementary school together. I was pregnant with my daughter that year and she was so sweet and helpful. She made sure I had chocolate anytime I needed it, even if it meant begging the vending machine guy to get it 🙂 We have remained friends over the years and I loved getting the opportunity to photograph her. She is absolutely stunning!
Meet Ashlee~ She is mom to an adorable little boy, Lincoln, and wife to her EMT/Firefighter husband Azzie. She works full time as a Speech Pathologist and is doing her best to find that elusive balance in life that we are all searching for. She is beautiful inside and out and this is HER story!
Her story ~ “First and foremost I am a Christian. I am a wife to the man of my dreams who is not only a man who challenges me in my faith and who and what I want to be, but he is my role model. I am a mother to the smartest, funniest, sweetest and most talented little boy. I am a woman. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a friend. I am a fighter. I am a lover. I am stubborn. I am happy. I am kind. I am always up for a challenge. I am a sinner. I am willing to try most anything once. I am someone you want in your corner. I am passionate. I am insecure. I am funny. I am a young girl at heart with goals and hopes and dreams that I am not always confident I will achieve. But, first and foremost, I am a Christian and I know that God will continue to lead me to conquer what he has put in front of me. I am woman.”
What does beauty mean to you? ~ “To me, beauty is not all about pretty clothes, perfect hair or an awesome body, but about how you feel when you accomplish a goal or look at yourself in a mirror. Most days I am like, um did I put my contacts in this morning because I know I look better than this. But then there are those days where I feel good about myself because I helped my son succeed in his school work, or my husband says he is appreciative of all the ‘little things’ I do for our family that make us function. Beauty is not about being the prettiest in the room, it is all about confidence. I find I am somewhat jealous of my friends who have this confidence that exudes out of them. I have no idea how they do it, but I am positive that I will master this skill one day.
What makes you feel beautiful? ~ “I feel most beautiful after I have taken a shower and lathered my body in some good ol’ Bath and Body Works lotion. Haha, it sounds silly, but as a working mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend I do not have a lot of time for myself. I looove taking a good long hot shower because when I take one of these I actually have the time to shave my legs and to actually wash my face. I love to put on some comfy pajamas and sit on my couch with some hot tea and talk with my husband or read a book to my son“
How did your session with Paisley Layne Photography make you feel? ~ My beauty session was so much more than I thought it would be. I went with my sister in law and my longest friend. Not only did we have a blast, but we had fun getting dressed up and putting cute outfits together and some silly ones too. I loved meeting new women who showed their side of confidence and shared their time with me that afternoon. Kendra was amazing! She was so sweet and made me feel like I was an actual model. She brought out my inner girl power and made me believe I was beautiful. I hope I get to take part in this awesome experience again.”
I am so glad that I can call Ashlee my friend. I admire her beauty and strength as a woman and I hope she takes the time to do something for herself every once in a while.
