It is pretty obvious to anyone that knows me that I like, love, am obsessed with photography. It pretty much consumes my thoughts 24/7. If I am not taking pictures, I am learning about how to get better at taking pictures, admiring other people’s pictures or dreaming up the next great photo shoot. I have found my passion in life and I feel pretty fortunate to be able to say that.
//Side note// I remember a few years ago having a conversation with my husband about hobbies. He is an avid hunter and pretty much lives for duck season every year. I remember telling him that I wish I had something in my life that I was that passionate about. He told me to go out and find that something – he may be regretting those words right now 🙂
The teacher in me loves to challenge myself, learn new things and try new techniques ~ so last January I decided to dedicate this year to learning everything I could, and stepping out of my comfort zone. One way that I did this was by joining a Project 52 photography group on Clickin Moms. Each week our group leader would post a new challenge. She would offer help, advice and examples to get us going, but then we were left to complete the challenge on our own each week. We could post our images to the forum if we chose to (which I usually did) or keep it as something just for us. I still have a few weeks left in the challenge, but here are some of my favorite images from the year. I plan to put them all into an album when I am finished as a reminder to never stop learning.
If you are like me, and have found your love for photography (or anything) I challenge you to dedicate the next year to learning. Step outside your comfort zone and find something that will help you grow. If your passion happens to be photography, there here are a couple of places to start.
