The #1 question I hear from boudoir clients is
“What should I wear?”
While I am sure there are several amazing lingerie shops, both in your town and online, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to look incredible during your session. You might be surprised to find that you can get everything you need for your session (and more) at a store you probably already shop at….TARGET!
I recently made a trip to my local Target store to show you all the options, both obvious and not so obvious! Watch the video below to see all the items I found on my trip, then read on for the details of some of my favorite items
The Details:
The first stop of my shopping trip (after hitting up the Starbucks of course) was the intimates section. This is the most common spot ladies head to when looking for boudoir attire. Target has a great selection of cute bras and panties that you can mix and match to create your perfect look. Some of my favorites included lace a lace bralette, a racerback sports bra and a deep plunge push up bra.

While in the intimates section I also found a handful of lingerie items that were gorgeous. One of my favorites was a blue velvet body suit (which I bought and promptly used in my next session). It was stunning and only $22! There were also satin negliges, cotton sleeps sets and velvet camis.

Before leaving the intimates section I had to stop and talk about the less obvious items which include comfortable loungewear, slouchy sweaters and versatile robes.

Now that I covered everything in the go-to intimates section, I moving on to the less obvious areas of the store. My first stop is the swim section. Yes, there are a few swimsuits that probably work as lingerie, but I wanted to focus on the cover-up. There are some really fun options for swim covers that can double as lingerie for your shoot. One of my favorites was a teal sheer cover-up that could have doubled for a dress. The second was a cream colored one that looked more like a sundress than a swim cover.

The next stop was the clothing section. Target is ideal for this because it carries all sizes so no matter your shape you can find something that works. I am a BIG fan of being outfits to your session that fit YOUR personality. If your style is more casual, then this department could be your ideal spot. Here you will find everything from ripped up jeans and crop tops to slouchy sweaters and graphic tees. The sky is the limit so it’s all about finding your style and being confident in what you wear.

On this particular trip I purchased 4 items for my studio closet that I can’t wait to use in upcoming sessions.
I bought the following:
Blue velvet body suit – $22 (on sale for $12)
White crop top – $20
Vintage graphic tee – $12
Black knee-high boots – $12
Total =$56
I hope this has shown you that you don’t have to break the bank to look amazing during your boudoir session. Next time you are at Target, make sure you look at everything through the lens of boudoir. You might be surprised!
